This months question: What's the one thing about your writing career you regret the most? Were you able to overcome it?
The one thing that I regret the most about my writing career is that I didn't have the confidence to try and get anything published years ago. I listened to the wrong people about my writing and how it couldn't be a proper career for me. I wish I had have had more support where that was concerned, so that I could have flourished and moved forward instead of becoming stagnant.
I was never able to overcome that, to the point where even now I have issues with thinking what I have written is good enough.
I am doing my best to learn the skills I need to be a better writer, and to finish the novels I am writing. I know it can be frustrating to people like my wife who do believe in me to understand how ingrained this is in me.
I really want to beat this.
Happy New Year to you! (It's still alright to say that, right?)
ReplyDeleteOn this months IWSG blog hop I've seen a lot of people (including myself) who regret not getting started with their writing earlier. I think the key thing is not to dwell on it too much and concentrate on what's in front of us and what's possible now. This is something I need to remember as well, but I'm sure we can both move forward positively.
Good luck!
