Well it's like this, I am on my second last lot of edits and I've fifteen more chapters on my second novel 'Enhanced' to get done. At the moment I'm doing this on the computer, which is okay as I've gotten used to it. In the past I'd be getting it printed off and going through it line by line, but I'm happy enough with things as they are.
The last edit will be done using Word 'read aloud' and that's when I'll reveal the cover of that particular novel. Once again it's one that I have designed myself.
The Editing is going slow as I'm trying to do the best job that I can. With the length of my novels I can't afford to hire an editor or proof reader or for that fact a cover designer. Yet I'm happy enough to be messing around with Canva and creating these for myself.
When going through this batch of Edits I have found myself Deleting a lot of words and some paragraphs due to the fact that they don't fit that well or were repeats of something that went mere inches above them. When I first started writing I hadn't the nerve to delete stuff, but I've learnt that it's necessary (and you can save to a bits and bobs document on the computer in case you might be able to use them later).
Now given that, I've also found myself inserting passages and complete chapters, these are to help move the story along, or bits that I'd forgotten about in the previous edit. Not everyone will do that with their works in progress, by the time they reach this point, they may be looking to cut words, for me I don't mind, as long as the story and plot make sense.
