Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
August 2 question: Have you ever written something that afterwards you felt conflicted about? If so, did you let it stay how it was, take it out, or rewrite it?
Yes a scene in my first novel, the sorceress was attacked and abused. The scene didnt sit well with me, so I rewrote it, she was still attacked, but the unnecessary physical abuse was taken out.
I have no problem now deleting problematic scenes, sometimes we feel that we need graphic harm, or abuse, or details, when we don't. My novels are in no way vanilla, but I think I've gotten better at deciding if a scene is problematic.
It's good to know your writing and yourself well enough to know where to remove things.
