The Insecure Writers Support Group Post, September 2023

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

September 6 question: The IWSG celebrates 12 years today! When did you discover the IWSG, how do you connect, and how has it helped you?

I'm not totally sure when I discovered the IWSG, but I've been here on and off for several years. It was during one of the A2Z's that I came across a blog that was also part of the group. Since then I've done my best to post and answer the question that is usually supplied. I connect through my posts and like to go visit some of the pages who participate. It's fun reading new blogs, and following their creators. The Group has helped me to realise that I'm not alone here, as sometimes it can feel like you are shouting out into the void all alone. Also has helped me realise that some of the issues I have around writing are not just 'my' issues, we all have them in one form or another. Then there is the whole cheering squad thing, we have each others backs, which I do love.

  1. Finding the sense of community here has been nice. So many different writers at various stages of their careers sharing the ups, downs, and all things in-between.

  3. I found IWSG through an A-Z post too! It's a source of support we can always rely on. With all the uncertainties around writing, that's a boon.

  5. You're right, it's easy to feel that we are alone with our writing issues. IWSG helps to ease those feelings. Good luck with your current project!

  6. I think I found A-Z through IWSG. I didn't manage to complete A-Z, even though I started in April 2020, when I should have had more time on my hands. The monthly pace of IWSG feels much more doable.

Glad to have connected with you here!
