Insecure Writers Support Group Post

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

When: First Wed of the Month.

February 2 question - Is there someone who supported or influenced you that perhaps isn't around anymore? Anyone you miss?

Nope, there is no one, that has passed. My mom and dad really didn't see the point (well with my dad I'm only guessing, as he was an avid reader, and near the end of his life, rather than read westerns he had a large stock of fantasy novels). I don't know if the bohemian temp teacher in second year comp is still around, she made me read out my story and said I should be a writer. My brother (the one that is a year younger than I am) has always supported me, he lives a distance from me, to the extent of being a little pushy, but that runs in the family. He pushes me, I push him (he's an awesome artist). He does believe I have talent, even if my style of writing doesn't appeal to him. I cherish that he appreciates that it is what I have always wanted to do.

I have one major cheer leader right now, my wife, she supports my writing, and encourages me to get this novel written, and the next so that I can get the out there, and let others see the talent she sees in me. That encouragement goes both ways, because she is also an awesome artist, and is studying ceramics at BA honors level.

There are my sons, and I hope my daughter (though I may never know where she is concerned). They were always supportive of my writing, and always let me have peace as pre-teens and teens to write.

Then there's the Wrimos who I work with major time once a year, and on and off all through the year, and the group in writers posse who keep me on track. I am luckier now with back up and cheerleaders, than I ever was growing up.

  2. If your wife supports you, that's what matters most.

  3. This business is tough without cheerleaders. But sometimes you only need a few supporting you, especially if they're close. Cheers on your journey!
